Hey! Thanks for visiting my site! My name is Monica. I’m a UX Designer and artist. I’m passionate about problem-solving, illustration, storytelling, and immersive experiences. I currently work at Leadr.
I was introduced to the UX world through particularly impactful conversation with a college advisor. During one of many meetings, she asked me what I liked to do. I told her, “The funny thing is, my classes are all about math and science while my hobbies focus on art and music.“ She then asked me if I have ever heard of Human Centered Design & Engineering. I am forever grateful that this advisor recognized both the technical and artistic aspects of my brain and saw that I would thrive in this field. When I got accepted into the program, I soon discovered how much I love problem-solving. I care deeply about people, so being curious about the why behind design decisions is important to me. I want to design products that people will love! Since my core motivation for design is the people, this makes most UX projects fun for me. I’m so grateful to be a UX Designer! |
VR + Art
One of the things I’m passionate about is technology that pushes the boundaries of the imagination. I love virtual reality (VR)! It pushes me to think about UX beyond just flat design. There are just so many possibilities and the rules are not yet defined, which is really exciting! Both the fantasy and practical side of VR interest me. The fantasy side allows for you to explore the different worlds that emerge from different creators’ imaginations which is SO cool (My current fave: Wolves in the Wall) and the practical applications allow for great improvements within different industries. THERE’S. SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL.
Being a self-taught artist, I have developed an eye for detail that I apply into my design work. I consider telling the story of a company or project itself another art form of sorts. It’s important to pay attention to details like color, spacing, and typography. If done correctly, you can evoke a certain feeling to a company more than a description ever could. Besides that, I can create illustrations to go with a design! My art experience helps with creativity and inspiration in both the 2D and 3D world! |
